Birkly is a flat-file PHP CMS with no runtime dependencies, no framework, and no build step. It uses sub-collections instead of reference IDs for relational data, has multi-language support built into the content model from the start, and supports any AI provider with no extra fee. AI-generated content arrives as a draft in a human-in-the-loop approval workflow, so the AI is a contributor, not an author. It runs on any server, costs nothing at release, and is fully open source. Birkly exists because traditional CMSs charge for your own content, break on minor upgrades, and treat AI as a subscription add-on.
